Brief description: Due to pandemic Covid19, the project was redesigned after May 2020 and realized using mainly online activities and social media, most of which connected with the Parliamentary Elections in July 2020. In these circumstances building the digital skills and capacities of the green activists were necessary.
Activities:
1. National Campaign Event, outreach event to promote the green priorities for the upcoming Parliamentary Election, 240 participants, presence of Mar Garcia, General Secretary of EGP. Afterwards training of 100 green activists for campaigning followed.
2. Conference: Green Economy as a way out of the corona crisis, ZOOM, 83 registered participants, live on Facebook, 1.200 views, followed by media. Different aspects discussed: realistic, fair and sustainable economic model; new green jobs (smart technologies, organic farming, energetics, green cities, eco-tourism); education of citizens, business, politics; complementing the regulative; financial support.
3. Training green activists to social media: Adjustment to alternative ways of communication and activism via social media, ZOOM, 68 registered participants, Macedonian trainer.
4. Training green activists for electoral campaign, ZOOM, 36 registered participants, trainer from Nederland.
5. Awareness raising of the public for the local needs and local activism for environmental issues, online survey and interviews in 10 municipalities for mapping the local problems of the citizens and citizens’ participation in decision making processes. Assessment of local problems to serve as a base for green activists and green candidates for the Parliamentary Elections.
6.Practical training for media outreach and public speech, with videos via peer-to-peer training of green activists. The technical equipment was borrowed to shoot videos and train public speech with PR professionals.
7. Evaluation and strategy meeting, 2-days event, 50 Participants. Analysis and evaluation of the results of the Parliamentary Elections 2020 from the point of green policies. Strategic goals of the green activists and PR strategies for different municipalities for the Local Elections 2021.
8. Training green activists to recognize corruption in environment, 41 participants, trainer from Transparency International Macedonia.
9. Conference: Corruption in environment. How to recognize and how to fight against?
ZOOM, 66 registered participants, opened to public, followed by media (also by journalists of investigative stories on corruption in the project supported by EU).
10. Conference: How to reach effective inspection control against pollution? ZOOM, 71 registered participants, opened to public, followed by media. Different aspects discussed: critical views of the NGO sector for the institutional response to pollution; positive results from the inspection controls of the State inspectorate for environment; experience with e-platform of the Inspectorate of the City of Skopje, for higher transparency; idea of new e-map of polluters for the green activists; new manuel for the local inspectors, according research of the local inspectors and citizens, through the project supported by the Ministry of environment.
11. Creating e-map of polluters in the City of Skopje, ZOOM, 78 registered participants, opened to public, live on Facebook, followed by media. The E-tool was created by Gorjan Jovanovski, IT expert and creator of MyAir app. for air pollution in Macedonia. The database of the installations with eco-permit, presenting the type of permit, production type, capacity, fuel and threats, was created by experts. Map is linked to the database and is available for citizens, to recognize where the polluting comes from and report to inspectors. It is their tool also.
12. Preparing audit of the Green Institute 2020, to strengthen the capacities of the Green Institute as a relevant factor for promoting and improving green policies in the country.
13. Redesigning the website of the Green institute, to enrich the site and follow new trends.
